Maverique Pride Flag

The maverique pride flag represents maverique, a non-binary gender identity coined in 2014 by the blogger Vesper H. (queerascat). People who identify as maverique describe an inner sense of gender that is real and distinct, but autonomous and independent, neither a mix of other genders nor an absence of gender. Vesper designed the flag shortly after, in June 2014. It has three horizontal stripes: yellow for gender that is primary and non-binary rather than derived from the male-female binary, white for autonomy and independence from that binary, and orange for the deep inner conviction and unconventional nature of the maverique experience. The flag is widely reproduced in non-binary and genderqueer resources.
