True Colors United

True Colors United is a nonprofit co-founded by musician Cyndi Lauper in 2008, originally as the True Colors Fund and later renamed. It works to end youth homelessness, a crisis that falls heavily on LGBTQ+ young people, who are far more likely than their peers to experience it. The organization advises housing and homeless-service providers on LGBTQ+-affirming practices, pushes for policy change at the federal, state, and local levels, and centers young people with lived experience in its work. Its name references Lauper's 1986 hit True Colors, a song that became an anthem of acceptance.
