Ecstasy

Ecstasy is a street name for MDMA, a drug that acts as both a stimulant and an empathogen. It produces euphoria, emotional warmth, and a heightened sense of connection with others, effects that made it popular in dance music, festival, and circuit party settings, including within LGBTQ+ nightlife. The experience is often called "rolling." MDMA works largely by flooding the brain with serotonin, which is followed by a depletion that can leave users feeling low for days afterward. It carries real risks, especially overheating, dehydration, and dangerous interactions with alcohol or other drugs. Harm reduction groups recommend testing substances, spacing out use, staying hydrated, and cooling down during intense physical activity.
