Euphoria
Gender euphoria is the joy, comfort, and sense of rightness a person feels when their gender is recognized, affirmed, or expressed as their true self.
Gender euphoria describes the positive feelings that come when a person's gender is seen, affirmed, or expressed authentically. It can be a burst of joy at reaching a transition milestone or a quieter, lasting sense of calm and relief. Common sources include being called by the right name and pronouns, seeing changes in the mirror that match one's identity, or wearing clothes that finally feel right. The term is the affirming counterpart to gender dysphoria, and trans communities have used it for years to point toward what supportive, gender-affirming care can feel like. The Trevor Project and researchers in transgender studies both emphasize euphoria as a meaningful guide to well-being, beyond the absence of distress.
