Gay Days

Gay Days is a tradition where LGBTQ+ people and friends gather at theme parks on the same day, wearing red shirts so the community is visible. It began in June 1991 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, when locals used an early internet bulletin board to arrange a single-day meetup and encouraged everyone to "wear red and be seen." What started as a low-key show of presence grew into a multi-day event drawing large crowds each year, with the red-shirt gathering traditionally held the first Saturday of June. Similar gatherings now happen at Universal Orlando and parks in other cities. The events are organized by the community, not by the parks themselves.
