Henrietta Hudson

Henrietta Hudson opened in 1991 at 438 Hudson Street in Manhattan's West Village, founded by Lisa Cannistraci and Minnie Rivera on the former site of the original Cubbyhole. For decades it was one of the country's most enduring lesbian bars and a rare survivor as such spaces closed across the United States. In 2021 the venue rebranded as a queer bar and lounge, describing itself as built by lesbians while welcoming a broader LGBTQ+ crowd, a shift that drew some debate within the community. It remains a cherished gathering place for queer women, nonbinary people, and their friends, and it is one of the longest-running bars of its kind in New York.
