The lesbian flag is a pride banner representing lesbian identity. The most widely used version today is the orange-to-pink design proposed by blogger Emily Gwen on Tumblr in 2018, sometimes called the sunset flag. Its stripes run from dark orange through white to dark pink, with meanings including gender non-conformity, independence, community, unique relationships to womanhood, serenity, love, and femininity. A simplified five-stripe version is also common. Earlier lesbian flags existed, including a labrys design and a pink-toned lipstick lesbian flag, but the labrys flag was created by a man and the lipstick version fell out of favor over exclusionary associations. The 2018 orange-pink design gained broad acceptance for representing lesbians across gender expressions.
