Nonbinary Flag

The nonbinary pride flag has four equal horizontal stripes: yellow, white, purple, and black. Activist Kye Rowan created it in February 2014, after some people felt the earlier genderqueer flag (designed by Marilyn Roxie in 2011) did not fully represent them. Rowan intended it to fly alongside that flag rather than replace it. Each stripe carries meaning: yellow for genders outside the binary, white for people with many or all genders, purple for those who feel a blend of male and female, and black for people who feel they have no gender, including many agender people. It is now one of the most widely recognized gender identity flags.
