Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a 1994 Australian road comedy written and directed by Stephan Elliott. It follows two drag performers, Tick (who performs as Mitzi, played by Hugo Weaving) and Adam (who performs as Felicia, played by Guy Pearce), along with Bernadette, a transgender woman played by Terence Stamp. Together they cross the Australian Outback aboard a battered tour bus named Priscilla to stage a drag show in Alice Springs, meeting acceptance and hostility along the way. Celebrated for its humor, heart, and dazzling costumes, the film became a landmark of queer cinema and won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. It later inspired the stage musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
