A League of Their Own

A League of Their Own is an American sports comedy-drama series co-created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, who also stars. Released on Prime Video in August 2022, it reimagines the beloved 1992 Penny Marshall film about the World War II-era All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and its Rockford Peaches. Where the movie only gestured at what could not be shown in 1992, the series makes queer identity central: many of the ballplayers are lesbian, bisexual, or otherwise queer, and it follows Black women shut out of the white league as they chase the game on their own terms. Praised for its representation, it was cut short when Amazon scrapped a planned final season amid the 2023 writers' strike.
