Bisexual / Bi

Bisexual, often shortened to bi, describes a person who experiences sexual or romantic attraction to people of their own gender and to people of more than one gender. Bisexuality does not require equal attraction to every gender, and it does not depend on a person's relationship history or on being in a particular kind of relationship to be real. Bisexual activists have long pushed back on narrow readings of the word. The 1990 Bisexual Manifesto, published in the magazine Anything That Moves, urged readers not to assume that bisexuality is binary in nature and affirmed attraction across the gender spectrum. Bisexual people make up one of the largest groups within the wider LGBTQ+ community.
