Ace Of Diamonds

Ace of diamonds is a playing-card symbol some asexual people use for gray-romantic or demiromantic aces, those who experience romantic attraction rarely or only under specific conditions.

Ace of diamonds is one of the playing-card symbols the asexual community uses to signal romantic orientation. In this system the four ace cards each stand for a different relationship to romantic attraction, not for the gender a person is drawn to. Diamonds is the least fixed of the four and is most often used for gray-romantic or demiromantic aces, people who feel romantic attraction rarely, weakly, or only after a close bond forms. Because usage varies across community spaces, some aces read diamonds simply as "somewhere in between" on the romantic spectrum. The card imagery pairs naturally with the word "ace," giving asexual people a playful shorthand for describing how romance fits, or does not fit, into their lives.
