Bi Visibility Day

Bi Visibility Day, also known as Celebrate Bisexuality Day, is observed annually on September 23. It recognizes bisexual people, the bi community, and the history of bisexuality, while drawing attention to the erasure and exclusion bi people encounter in both straight and LGBTQ+ spaces. The day was created in 1999 by three American bisexual activists: Wendy Curry of Maine, Michael Page of Florida (who also designed the bisexual pride flag), and Gigi Raven Wilbur of Texas. It was first observed at the International Lesbian and Gay Association conference in Johannesburg. The name "Bi Visibility Day" spread later, popularized in the UK by activist Jen Yockney, and the observance is now marked worldwide.
