Straight
Straight is a common term for heterosexual, describing someone romantically and sexually attracted to people of a different gender.
Straight is an everyday word for heterosexual, describing a person who is romantically and sexually attracted primarily to people of a different gender, most often men attracted to women or women attracted to men. The term became widespread in the twentieth century as a plain-language alternative to clinical labels. Sexual orientation exists on a spectrum, and being straight is one orientation among many rather than a default or standard. Straight people who actively support LGBTQ+ rights and communities are often called allies. The word is neutral and descriptive, used comfortably by both straight and LGBTQ+ people.
