Disney Gay

Disney Gay is playful, affectionate slang within gay communities for a man whose personality and aesthetics track closely with Disney culture. The stereotype knows the words to every animated song, has firm opinions about which films are best, cries at Toy Story 3, and may be a devoted parks visitor. The label is generally used warmly, sometimes self-applied, and it reflects the outsized role Disney has played in the childhoods and imaginations of many queer people, who often found early emotional connection in its heroes, villains, and showstopping numbers. It is casual community shorthand rather than a formal identity, and like most such labels it carries humor and gentle self-recognition more than any strict definition.
