House Father

A House Father is the male or masculine-identified leader of a House in ballroom culture. Along with the House Mother, the Father anchors the House's chosen-family structure, providing mentorship, protection, discipline, and fatherly support to members known as the House's children. The role carries real responsibility: guiding younger members through the ballroom scene, preparing them to walk categories and compete, and offering emotional and sometimes practical support to people who may lack that from their birth families. Fathers and Mothers together set the tone and reputation of a House. Not every House has a Father, and some are led by a Mother alone, but where the role exists it is one of respect and standing.
