Boots

In drag and ballroom slang, "boots" is an intensifier added after a word to amplify it, as in "sickening, boots" or "pretty boots." It works like a spoken exclamation point that pushes whatever came before it to the extreme. The word is a shortened form of the longer phrase "the house down boots," which grew out of New York ballroom and drag culture. It spread into wider queer and internet use largely through RuPaul's Drag Race and social media. Used on its own, "boots!" is also an enthusiastic shout of approval. The tone is playful, celebratory, and affectionate.
