Jeffery Pub

Jeffery Pub is a Black-owned gay bar in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, on the city's South Side. It has served the LGBTQ+ community since the mid-1960s, when it first opened, making it one of the oldest gay bars in America and for years Chicago's only Black- and gay-owned bar. Now located at 7041 S. Jeffery Boulevard, it has been a lasting anchor for Black queer Chicagoans, offering a place to gather, dance, and be fully themselves across generations. The bar remains a family-run community institution and a landmark in the history of Black LGBTQ+ nightlife.
