Kai-kai

Kai-kai (sometimes written kaikai) is a piece of older gay and ballroom slang for sexual activity between two drag queens, particularly when both are dressed in full drag. It circulated in mid-twentieth-century queer and drag communities and reflects the playful, self-aware humor those communities brought to talk about sex and desire. It is worth not confusing kai-kai with kiki, a related-sounding term that means gossiping, laughing, and hanging out rather than hooking up. Kai-kai survives today mostly as vintage drag vocabulary, a reminder of how queer subcultures built their own coded language.
