Sex (Action)
Sex, as an act, means physical activity involving erotic stimulation of the genitals or other erogenous zones, and it takes many valid forms.
As an action, sex refers to physical intimacy involving erotic stimulation of the genitals or other erogenous zones, which may or may not include penetration. What counts as sex is personal and varies across people and cultures. For LGBTQ+ people especially, sex reaches well beyond heteronormative, penetration-centered models. Oral sex, manual stimulation, anal sex, mutual touch, and many other forms of intimacy are all equally valid and all count. Framing sex inclusively matters because narrow definitions can erase queer experiences and leave gaps in how people think about pleasure, consent, and safer sex. The healthiest understanding centers what partners find meaningful and consent to together.
