Lug Lesbian

LUG is an acronym for 'Lesbian Until Graduation,' campus slang for a young woman, often a college student, who identifies as lesbian or has relationships with women during her school years and later identifies as heterosexual. Originating on US campuses, the term has been used both playfully and dismissively. Critics note that it can weaponize doubt against real lesbian and bisexual identities, treating them as a passing phase rather than valid experience, while others use it to describe genuine sexual fluidity and experimentation. A parallel term, GUG or 'Gay Until Graduation,' is sometimes applied to men. Like much identity slang, its meaning depends heavily on who is using it and why.
