Polyamorous Flag

The polyamorous flag represents people who practice polyamory. The best-known version, created by Jim Evans in 1995, has three horizontal stripes: blue for the openness and honesty of everyone involved, red for love and passion, and black for solidarity with those who must keep their relationships private because of social stigma. A gold Greek letter pi sits in the center, standing for polyamory (its first letter) and for the value placed on emotional bonds over the purely physical. Because the original design has been seen as visually busy, newer flags have appeared over the years, including versions built around overlapping hearts or a gold infinity heart. Several designs remain in use across polyamorous communities today.
