Passion
Intense emotional and erotic feeling, long celebrated as a driving force in queer love, art, and activism.
Passion is intense emotion and desire, the heat of feeling that runs through love, art, and political life. In LGBTQ+ cultures it carries particular weight because queer people have often been told their desires are shameful and must be hidden. Reclaiming the right to feel and express passion openly runs through queer literature and poetry, the grief woven into projects like the AIDS Memorial Quilt, and the anger that fueled uprisings such as Stonewall. Passion here is not only romantic or erotic. It also describes the deep commitment behind decades of organizing for dignity and equal rights. To love and to fight for that love without apology has always been central to liberation.
