Bondage

Bondage is the consensual practice of physically restraining a partner using rope, leather straps, handcuffs, tape, or similar materials for erotic, aesthetic, or sensory reasons. It is one of the most common elements of BDSM and the "B" in the acronym. Japanese rope bondage, known as shibari or kinbaku, has developed into an art form focused on intricate, visually striking rope patterns. Consent and safety are central: partners agree in advance, set a safe word, check circulation and comfort throughout, and keep safety tools like scissors or quick-release knots within reach. Bondage is practiced across all orientations and gender identities.
