Clit

Clit is the casual shorthand for the clitoris, an organ central to sexual pleasure for many people with vulvas. The visible part, the glans, is only a small portion of it. Anatomical research shows the clitoris extends well beneath the surface, with internal structures that wrap around the vaginal canal and play a large part in arousal and orgasm. In queer women's, sapphic, and trans communities, the clit comes up openly in frank, pleasure-positive conversations about sex and sexual health. Talking about it plainly helps counter a long history of the organ being ignored or misunderstood in sex education.
