Daddy

"Daddy" is affectionate slang for an older or dominant man who carries confidence, authority, and a protective or paternal energy. The word has a long history: dictionaries trace non-fatherly uses back centuries, and by the 1920s blues music and African American Vernacular English used "daddy" to mean a lover, often an older one. In gay culture it came to describe a mature man who might mentor or take a dominant role with a younger partner, and it remains tied to age-gap dynamics and leather and kink communities. Today it is used more broadly and playfully across queer and mainstream spaces to praise anyone who reads as attractive, self-assured, and in charge, regardless of literal age.
