Demisexuality

Demisexuality is a sexual orientation in which a person experiences sexual attraction only after forming a deep emotional bond.

Demisexuality is the orientation of people who experience sexual attraction only once they have built a deep emotional connection. It is generally categorized on the asexual spectrum. A defining feature is the absence of primary attraction, meaning attraction based on immediately observable traits like appearance or voice. What a demisexual person feels instead is secondary attraction, which develops out of knowing someone over time. The amount of time and closeness needed varies from person to person. Demisexual people can have full and active sexual lives inside committed, emotionally intimate relationships. The term emerged from asexual online communities in the mid-2000s and has since become a recognized part of the broader ace vocabulary.
