Mary

A camp, affectionate term of address used among gay men, often to add irony or playful emphasis.

"Mary" is a term of address in gay male culture, used with warmth, camp humor, or gentle teasing, as in "Oh, Mary, please." It has deep roots in queer slang, appearing in Polari, the coded vocabulary that gay men in mid-20th-century Britain used to talk safely in public. Calling someone Mary can signal closeness and shared queer identity, or lightly puncture a moment of drama. Like much camp language, its charm comes from playful inversion and its work as an in-group marker. The term remains common today in banter, drag culture, and everyday queer speech.
