Mx (Title)

Mx is a gender-neutral honorific used instead of gendered titles like Mr. or Ms. Usually pronounced 'mix' or 'muhx,' it was created in the late 1970s and has been adopted by non-binary and genderqueer people, along with anyone who prefers not to signal a gender in their title. It has gained formal recognition across the United Kingdom, where UK government agencies, the NHS, banks, and universities accept it, and the House of Commons confirmed in 2015 that it would allow MPs to use it. The Oxford English Dictionary added Mx as an entry in 2015. The 'x' works as an open placeholder, much like the x in Latinx.
