Pride Parade

A Pride parade is an annual public march or procession celebrating LGBTQ+ identity, community, and history. Events happen in cities worldwide, usually in June but also year-round, and range from small community walks to massive gatherings that draw millions in places like New York City, Sao Paulo, and Madrid. The tradition traces to June 28, 1970, when activists led the Christopher Street Liberation Day March in New York on the first anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. Early marches were protests demanding rights and visibility. Modern parades blend celebration, political demonstration, and community. Some advocates call for returning Pride to its protest roots, especially as legal protections face renewed challenges.
