Roleplay

In a sexual context, roleplay is a consensual game of pretend in which one or more people adopt personas or act out scenarios different from their everyday selves to bring a fantasy to life. Scenes can be simple and improvised or elaborate, with costumes, dialogue, and a loose script. Common setups include familiar pairings such as doctor and patient or teacher and student, and roleplay often overlaps with power exchange, dominance and submission, and other kink. It is popular across LGBTQ+ and broader communities as a way to explore desire, build intimacy, and add novelty. Like all kink, healthy roleplay depends on clear communication, negotiated boundaries, and enthusiastic consent from everyone involved.
