Smooth is a descriptor in gay male culture for a body that is hairless or has very little body hair, whether naturally or through shaving, waxing, or laser hair removal. It often appears in profiles and personal ads as a stated look or a preference, positioned as the counterpart to hairy or bear aesthetics. Smoothness is frequently associated with twink identities and with certain other subcultural styles, though people of any body type may keep smooth. Like most grooming preferences, it reflects the wide range of tastes within LGBTQ+ communities rather than any fixed rule, and no single body style is more valid than another.
