Stonewall (UK-Based)

Stonewall UK is one of Britain's best-known LGBTQ+ rights organizations. A small group of women and men founded it in 1989 while campaigning against Section 28, the law that blocked councils and schools from "promoting" homosexuality. It borrowed its name from the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City, though it is a distinct British charity and not connected to the New York bar or to US Stonewall Democrat groups. Over the decades it has been central to winning the repeal of Section 28, an equal age of consent, same-sex adoption and civil partnership rights, and advances in transgender rights.
