Str8
Str8 is internet and texting shorthand for "straight," meaning heterosexual.
Str8 is a numeric abbreviation of "straight," widely used in texting, social media, and dating profiles to mean heterosexual. The "8" stands in for the "aight" sound at the end of the word. In online gay and queer spaces it often appears in self-descriptions or stated preferences, sometimes paired with other shorthand such as "str8-acting" or "str8-curious." Like most texting slang, it is casual rather than clinical. The compressed spelling means the same as the full word, and its tone depends entirely on context, from a neutral label to a marker of identity or desire.
