Thick / Thicc / Thique

Thick, thicc, and thique are slang spellings of the same idea: a curvy, full-figured body, usually with fuller hips, buttocks, and thighs. The term is rooted in Black culture and spread widely online and through hip-hop before being embraced across LGBTQ+ spaces. Merriam-Webster records 'thicc' as meaning attractively full-figured or thickset, used as a compliment for curvy women or brawny men. Rather than treating fuller figures as something to hide, these words frame them as desirable. Within queer communities, using them is often tied to body-positive movements that push back against narrow beauty standards and celebrate the range of real bodies.
