Glossary
Androsexual / Androphilic
Androsexual, also called androphilic, describes a person who is sexually attracted to men, males, or masculinity, regardless of their own gender.
Androsexual, also written as androphilic, describes someone who experiences sexual attraction to men, males, or masculinity in general. The parallel term androromantic covers romantic attraction along the same lines. These words are useful because they name who a person is drawn to without anchoring that attraction to the person's own gender. For example, a non-binary person attracted to men might describe themselves as androsexual rather than gay or straight, since those labels assume a fixed gender for the person feeling the attraction. The focus is on the object of attraction, specifically masculinity, which can include how someone looks, acts, or presents. People of any gender can identify this way.
