Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan is the stage name of American singer and songwriter Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, born in Missouri in 1998. She built a devoted following with camp, drag-influenced pop that centers queer desire and lesbian experience directly rather than in coded terms. Her 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and singles such as "Good Luck, Babe!" and "Pink Pony Club" propelled her to mainstream stardom, multiple Grammy recognition, and large festival crowds. Roan is openly lesbian and describes Chappell Roan as a drag persona that lets her perform with total abandon while honoring queer and drag culture. She has become a prominent figure in a wave of unapologetically lesbian pop, and has used her platform to speak on LGBTQ+ rights and artist well-being.
