Duck-walk
The duck-walk is a signature vogue and ballroom dance move in which a performer squats low and travels forward on the balls of the feet, often bouncing to the beat.
The duck-walk is one of the most recognizable moves in vogue, the stylized dance that grew out of the Harlem ballroom scene. A dancer drops into a low squat and walks or bounces forward on the balls of the feet while staying close to the ground, usually keeping the move sharp and on the beat. It takes real leg strength, balance, and flexibility to do well. The move is closely tied to ballroom culture, the Black and Latino LGBTQ+ community that built vogue, and it reached wide audiences through Madonna's 1990 song and video "Vogue," the documentary Paris Is Burning, and later shows like Pose and RuPaul's Drag Race.
