En Homme

En homme is a French-derived phrase for presenting in a masculine way through clothing and style, used as the counterpart to en femme.

En homme comes from French, roughly meaning "as a man" or "in masculine dress." It describes presenting in a masculine way through clothing, grooming, and mannerisms, and works as the counterpart to en femme. The phrase turns up among cross-dressers, drag kings, and some transgender men or non-binary people to describe a masculine presentation in a particular setting. Like en femme, it names how someone is presenting at a given time rather than making a claim about their underlying gender identity. For a trans man it may describe everyday life, while for a performer or an occasional cross-dresser it may describe a specific look adopted for a scene, an event, or a mood.
