Fellow Travelers

Fellow Travelers is a 2023 limited series created by Ron Nyswaner, based on the 2007 novel by Thomas Mallon. It follows the volatile romance between Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer), a charismatic and guarded political operative, and Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), an idealistic young man of deep faith, who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. Their relationship unfolds against the Lavender Scare, when Senator Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn targeted gay federal workers as security risks. The story spans four decades, moving through 1960s Vietnam War protests, 1970s disco culture, and the 1980s AIDS crisis.
