Host

Host describes someone willing to have a date or sexual encounter at their own home, rather than traveling to someone else's place or meeting elsewhere.

Host is dating and hookup shorthand for someone who can receive a partner at their own residence. Someone who says they can "host" is offering their home as the meeting spot, while someone looking to "travel" or asking "can you host?" needs the other person's place instead. The word shows up constantly on apps and in personal ads, where privacy, roommates, and logistics all shape who can host. It is practical language rather than an identity, and it applies broadly across LGBTQ+ and straight dating alike. Being able to host is often mentioned upfront to sort out where, if anywhere, two people can actually meet.
