Looking
In gay dating culture, 'looking' signals that someone is actively seeking a sexual or romantic connection; it is also the title of HBO's 2014 to 2016 series about gay men in San Francisco.
In gay and queer dating culture, 'looking' is shorthand for actively seeking a hookup or connection, a usage rooted in personal ads and later cruising and app profiles. The word is also the title of HBO's comedy-drama 'Looking' (2014 to 2016), created by Michael Lannan and shaped by director Andrew Haigh. It followed Patrick, Agustin, and Dom, three gay men living and working in modern San Francisco, and was HBO's first series centered on the lives of gay men. Praised for its understated, character-driven realism, the show avoided stereotype and tragedy, and it was wrapped up with a 2016 TV film. The Guardian later named it among the century's greatest shows.
