Ilga (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans And Intersex Association)

ILGA World, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, is a worldwide federation of more than 2,000 member organizations from over 170 countries and territories. Founded in 1978 by activists from the UK, Ireland, Australia, the United States, and elsewhere, it works to secure and protect the human rights of LGBTI people. ILGA World holds consultative status at the United Nations, advocating at the Human Rights Council and other bodies, and is organized into six regions including ILGA-Europe, ILGA Asia, and Pan Africa ILGA. It is best known for its comprehensive global research tracking laws that criminalize or protect people based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics.
