Masc Lesbian

A masc lesbian is a lesbian who presents in a masculine or androgynous way through dress, grooming, and mannerism. The term overlaps with "butch" and is sometimes used interchangeably, but it can also signal a softer or more contemporary masculine-of-center look without the specific cultural history that "butch" carries. Masc lesbians often move through a world that misreads them, being assumed straight until they say otherwise, or pressured to choose between masculinity and being recognized as women.
