This is a common misspelling of 'partner,' kept here as a pointer to the correct term. 'Partner' is a widely used gender-neutral word for a significant other, romantic companion, or spouse. Many LGBTQ+ people favor it because it does not presuppose the gender of either person in the relationship, and because it treats same-sex and different-sex relationships with the same language.
