Philadelphia Pride Flag
The Philadelphia Pride Flag adds black and brown stripes above the rainbow to explicitly include LGBTQ+ people of color.
The Philadelphia Pride Flag was unveiled in June 2017 by the city's Office of LGBT Affairs as part of its "More Color, More Pride" campaign, created with the design agency Tierney. It adds a black stripe and a brown stripe above the traditional six-color rainbow to represent LGBTQ+ people of color and to push the community to confront racism within its own spaces. The design drew both praise and pushback, sparking wider conversation about racial inclusion under the Pride umbrella. It directly inspired the Progress Pride Flag, which later folded in the black and brown stripes along with transgender colors. The image is released into the public domain.
