Queer Platonic Partnership (QPP)
A committed, deeply intimate partnership that goes beyond conventional friendship without being romantic or sexual in the traditional sense.
A queerplatonic partnership, sometimes called a queerplatonic relationship or QPP, is a committed and deeply intimate bond that intentionally defies the usual line between friendship and romance. It is more than a close friendship, often involving deep emotional commitment and sometimes shared living, finances, or a plan to build a life together, without necessarily being romantic or sexual in the conventional sense. The term arose within aromantic and asexual communities, where intense platonic bonds may be a person's primary partnership, though people of any orientation can be in one. The queer in the name signals both a connection to LGBTQ+ community and a queering of the cultural hierarchy that ranks romance above every other kind of relationship. Only the people involved can define what their partnership is.
