Switch

In BDSM and kink culture, a switch is someone who moves between dominant and submissive roles instead of staying in one. A switch might top or dominate with some partners and bottom or submit with others, or trade roles within a single encounter. In gay male sexual culture, switch is also used for someone who enjoys both topping and bottoming, though many people use the word versatile for that specific meaning. The term reflects the idea that giving and receiving, or leading and yielding, are not fixed identities. Roles are usually agreed on before a scene, and being a switch is about flexibility of desire, not indecision.
