Tavern on Camac

Tavern on Camac, known to regulars as TOC, is widely regarded as the oldest and longest continually operating gay bar in Philadelphia, anchoring the city's Gayborhood on Camac Street since 1925. Spread across three distinct floors, it has long combined a piano bar, dance space, and restaurant, making it both a nightlife destination and a community gathering place. It reopened in 2025 after a year of renovations with a new chef and updated menu, keeping a nearly century-old institution alive. For generations of LGBTQ+ Philadelphians, the Tavern has been a fixture of local queer history.
