World Pride

WorldPride is a large international Pride event licensed by InterPride, the global association of Pride organizers. A different city hosts it every few years, pairing parades and cultural programming with human rights conferences and demonstrations to raise LGBTQ+ visibility and solidarity worldwide. The first WorldPride was held in Rome in 2000, followed by editions in cities including Jerusalem, London, Toronto, Madrid, New York (2019, marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising), Copenhagen and Malmö (2021), Sydney (2023), and Washington, D.C. (2025), which was only the second time a U.S. city hosted. Because host cities span different countries and political climates, each WorldPride tends to carry its own theme and reflects the local state of LGBTQ+ rights alongside the global movement.
